Therm-a-Rest Compressible Travel Pillow Review

Product Description

Having a portable pillow can come in handy if you enjoy traveling and camping. You can carry your pillow to the plane or the camping site you have been hoping to visit. Most pillows can be too big to carry around, or they are uncomfortable. The Therm-a-Rest compressible travel pillow is a medium-sized pillow that comes in different colors. The pillow cover is made of polyester, and it is filled with foam.

To travel with your pillow, all you need is to fold the pillow and pack it up. To unravel your pillow, untuck it and give it a good shake, then you can use it. If you are having a hard time unraveling the pillow, adjust the drawstrings. The beauty of this pillow is that it comes with a self-contained bag to keep with your camping gear. Furthermore, you won’t struggle to fit the pillow into a bag. The material covering the pillow is brushed polyester, which is a soft and breathable material.

Therm-a-rest pillows are good for the environment because they are made from recycled foam. The pillow is durable, and it will not get lumpy when you unfold it for use. If you want to fluff the pillow up some more, all you need to do is wash it, then put it in the drier. Although the pillow comes in different colors, you can purchase a pillowcase to make the pillow fit any aesthetic in any home.

My husband kept telling me we needed to get these for our camping trip and I kept telling him he was silly for wanting to pay $20 for this tiny weird pillow. Well, he buys it anyway and we took them camping and while I wasn’t the biggest fan then, I became a believer when we took a flight with them and I opened mine up and leaned against my husband to take a nap. I have NEVER…I mean NEVER slept as good as I did during that trip with this pillow. The picture says it all. Dude. Buy it. So worth it! And if you don’t have a husband to lean on, become really good friends with the person next to you. Or get a window seat. 😛

My dad originally purchased one of these for a camping pillow and told me about it when I recently complained about not sleeping well on an airplane. I purchased one for my return flight and I was so happy I did!!!!!! I just put it up against the wall (window seat) and slept like a baby! I ordered the medium size and was surprised at how small it rolled up. It was nice to place it behind my back when I wasn’t sleeping. I’ve included a picture of it rolled up. Salad dressing bottle for size reference.

Love this! I have been looking for a decent travel pillow for years. I have to sleep propped up a bit so it’s always easier to take my pillow than ask for another when I am away. Anyway, I prefer to use my pillow. For years I have taken a ‘down around’ pillow with me, using a vacuum bag to make it smaller, but it still weighed about a kilo. I am walking the Milford Track later this year, so I needed something much lighter. This pillow rolls up into part of the cover and although it feels odd to the touch because of the lumps of foam, it’s comfortable to sleep on.

I got the size large, which is plenty big enough to sleep on with a hand beside your head. The cover is like soft suede and ideal if you just want it for traveling on a plane, train, etc. I would rather sleep on a cotton pillow that’s easy to wash, so being handy with a sewing machine, I made a normal size pillowcase smaller by sewing up two sides. It works well. When I first received this it didn’t really smell, but I washed and dried it anyway – plumped up well. Finally a big plus – very few airmiles – it’s made in Ireland.
